Haiti Relief Work
Here is the latest news from Haiti:- We negotiated a contract with the World Food Program (WFP), our largest ever, and the same size as the contract with CARE, for distribution emergency food to 1300 families per day, more than 78,000 people per month, in the worst affected 5 city zones (some still covered in mud). Also, the WFP (World Food Program) agreed to give us a large "Food for Work" program both for Gonaives and Anse Rouge, and an Emergency Food distribution program for Anse Rouge. The total tonnage for all these programs will be in the area of 2,000 MTs, and will affect more than 120,000 people per month. The objectives are : prevention of mass starvation, clean-up and rehabilitation of schools and streets, rehabilitation of rural infrastructure, building of canals, soil stabilization, erosion control, construction of lakes.
We are going to be looking into purchasing 2 more large trucks and increasing our staff to handle the incredible load of work... The most inspiring aspect of it has been the incredible energy from the community meetings and the staff.
We urgently need cash to support this operation, as the World Food Program does not provide operating expenses. To Donate directly to Haiti, please visit:
